Heat of Formation of CH3CL

The assignment is to calculate the Heat of Formation of CH3Cl...my only problem is that I can't figure out how to break up the molecule. I have tried using the bonds H--H and H--Cl(resulted in a heat of formation: 16.7(Wrong)) and then I tried again using thed bonds H--H and Cl--Cl(Resulted in heat of formation:156.7 Wrong again). I know how to do it, just not which way the bonds break up in. Can you help me?

There are three C-H and one C-Cl bonds.

methane + chlorine -> HCl + CH3Cl

So add H-Cl bond and C-Cl bond.

and subtract C-H bond and Cl-Cl bond.
