Hi, this is my first post in this forum.

Basically we did an experiment on nucleophilic substitutions where we studied reactions of alkyl halides with NaI and AgNO3

Hmm, I just want to know which nucleophile, I- or NO3- is more reactive. Please let me know. Thank you in advance  :D

 you should compare HI and HNO3.That you know I- or NO3- which is active

In my point of view, firstly, i should know which factors decide the action of nucleophil substitution. Then put I- and No3- in comparison of these factors, this will help you define the more active one. Good luck to you!

You might also want to think about what role the cations are playing- it can be significant.  Can you write out balanced reactions (equations) that show what happens to all components in the reactions?  For alkyl chlorides, RCl, the reactions would be

RCl + AgNO3 = ? + ?

or

RCl + NaI = ? + ?
