why pentoses can not be fermented by bacteria?

There will always be a bacteria that can eat a carbon source, aside from perhaps diamond.
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.

i read in my text book that they are not fermnented and metabolized only in stomach is this idea right?
