Organolithium and MO diagram question
« on: January 12, 2008, 12:27:07 PM »
Two questions:

1. Explain why Tertbutyllitium behaves differently in hexane, diethyl ether and ethyl acetate solvents.

I know the species present in each solvent is different ie, (ButLi)4, (ButLi)2 solvated and ButLi solvated respectively so is that simply the answer or is there more to it??

2 Give an explanation with the aid of an MO diagram, why the fluorite atoms in F2PH3 are trans to eachother?

I know this is something to do with F being both larger and more electronegative but Im having trouble with the MO diagram, really dont knwo what it would look like??

Any help much appreciated!
Thanks
