How do you work out ionic equations for Base+Acid?
« on: January 11, 2008, 03:34:52 PM »
Hi

If I have the equation

CuO + 2HCl --> CuCl2 + H2O

How do I work out the ionic equation for this reaction?

Thanks

There's not much to do in the given equation. Just work out the oxidation states of the elements and see if they change. Then express the reaction in terms of the ions with their oxidation states. In this reaction nothing changes...
