Monoadduct?
« on: February 12, 2008, 03:55:02 PM »
What is a monoadduct? I tried google it, but nothing really shows up.

The word appears in this context:
Quote
Give the structure of all possible monoadducts of HCl and penta-1,3-diene.

Thanks.

Hey THC

A monoadduct is the product resulting from an addition reaction, where the addition have only happened once. In your case HCl can be added twice, since the starting material has two double bonds, giving the diadduct, but it can also be added only once, giving the monoadduct.

I hope this answers your question.
