chemical equations of explosives like HMX
« on: February 13, 2008, 08:43:04 AM »
Does anyone know where I can find chemical equations for all explosions.
For example: Nitroglycirin
4 C3H5(ONO2)3( )  12 CO2(g) + 10 H2O(g) + 6 N2(g) + O2(g)
The reaction releases an enormous amount of heat because many strong bonds in the product gas molecules replace the fewer, weaker bonds in nitroglycerin. Every mole of nitroglycerin that detonates releases about 1.5 MJ of heat!

Ik need a safer option, with if possible a greater volume increase. I don't need the heat.

You need to learn the very basic definition, of the word "explosion" first, then work your way up to reactions, and kinetics. ;)
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

I would suggest reading the rules of the forum
