Define unstable. ;)

Electrons our lazy they like to stay in low energy levels, if they get excited to a higher level they will want to relax back down.
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
3. Forum Supports LaTex

the most probable outcome of an excited electron is that it releases some of its energy and demotes to a lower energy level as a result.
