(Question) Reactivity of gold

Why the reactivity of gold or platinum is lower than other metals? Is that it is more difficult for us to estimate the reactivity of the d-blocks elements?’ The reactivity of the d-blocks elements is not just depend on the outer most electrons of the atom’, is that true?
