Help in Calculation
« on: February 27, 2008, 11:27:49 PM »
Hi all, can someone please help me with this.
I have a buffer solution of 30 g MgCl2*6H2O, 5 g of sodium acetate, 1 g KNO3, 0.111 g of Na2SO4, 20 mL of glacial acetic acid (99%) into 500 mL H20 brought up to make 1L of buffer solution.  My question is, in theory- what would be my SO4 concentration be?

Calculate the percentage of sulphate in sodium sulphate (from mws).

Apply to the weight of sodium sulphate to get wt of sulphate present

calculate concentration (g/L, mg/L, M) as applicable.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
