[Question]About Iron

Iron has the electrond configuration of [Ar]4s2 3d6.
If it wants to be stable ,it can only give 1 electron ,but why it has +2 or +3 charge in its ion?

yoyowong007:  You've asked a number of questions about the properties of the transition elements.  Might I suggest you start with some very basic text on them, their incomplete d subshell, and their resulting properties, over here.  Then come back with more specific questions.
