The USDA website has a number of areas that may be useful to you.  You will have to do a literature search.  I have found the following links that may be of use to you.  Flavanones are also addressed by USDA.

USDA Portal:  http://www.usda.gov/wps/portal/!ut/p/_s.7_0_A/7_0_1OB?navtype=MA&navid=HOME

USDA research and Science:  http://www.usda.gov/wps/portal/!ut/p/_s.7_0_A/7_0_1OB?navtype=SU&navid=RESEARCH_SCIENCE

This is a paper on from USDA dealing with Extraction Methods for Flavanoids:

You could, but dont assume it will work before testing it.  Spike test samples and take them through the procedure to check its efficiency,
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

A-O:'s links are free.  If you have another journal article, you can try to compare the ones you have for effectiveness, JGK: said.  But people aren't going to often reinvent the wheel for biological extraction.  If they do, they might prefer to keep it a trade secret.  If you've got a specific problem, you could mention it, and someone may have insights.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
