NaOH + aspirin

(1/1)

rand224:
Does anyone know what NaOH + aspirin (C9H8O4) is?  I have the hardest time balancing equations!  Thanks!

Mitch:
It should just make the salt. + water

rand224:
I can't figure out what the salt would be.  Most salts I've seen are chlorides (NaCL, BaCl2, CaCl2, etc.)  Is this one really weird?  Thanks a bunch!

Mitch:
Here is the picture of the salt formed

hmx9123:
Aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid.  The salt is sodium acetylsalicate. (I think I got the spelling right...)
