What is the final temperature
« on: March 15, 2008, 10:55:18 PM »
A 13 gram block of iron at 95 degrees Celcius is dropped into 80.0 grams of water at 15 degrees Celsius. What is the final temperature (degrees Celsius) of the iron/water mixture? ( hint: Heat is lost by the iron = heat gained by water).

Heres my work:

mH2OcH2O(Tf - TH2O)
=-mFe cFe (Tf - Tcu)
-80(4.19)(Tf - 15)
=-80(0.444)(Tf - 95)
Tf =

I dont think im doing so good...the answer should be 16.4 Can someone please help me

Dear Nathaniel;

It looks also not so good to me (but I didn’t the whole calculation).

My question is:   What is the value of the mass of Iron?;  ─   And where is it in all your formulas?
(Don’t round values before the final calculation is done!)

Good Luck!
