how do you synthesize:-
1/ 3-phenyl-2-butanol frombenzene and ethanol?
2/ 3-methyl-pentanol from ethanol?

How do you synthesize the following compounds from benzene and any other reagent:-
1/  1-bromo-1-phenylbutane
2/  2-amino-5-nitrotoluene
3/  ortho- amino toluene?

i tried to do the 2nd part..
If you react... benzene with methyl chloride, this gives you toluene. toluene can be reacted with conc. sulphuric acid as a catalyst, and nitric acid to get 2- amino-5-nitrotoluene.... but i dont know if this method is correct

for ortho-amino toluene
React benzene with conc. suphuric accid and nitric acid. to get nitobenzene. then treat this with aluminium chloride and methyl chloride and the product of this, treat with tin, and HCl as the catalyst....
