What is the species that actually causes the green color flame in Beilstein test?

Could someone please help?

The Beilstein Test is first of all

QUALITATIVE.

The color is generated from a CuX (Copper halide) but this test is very subjective.  Greens and blues are commonly observed.  The greens and blues are from the emission spectrum of Cu (I).  Don't try to classify your halide as bromo, chloro, iodo or fluoro.

Agrobert, thanks for the reply and the links.  I was trying to know the  species that is responsible for the color in Beilstein test.  It is good to  know that Cu(I) species is responsible for the color.  Could you please help me finding a literature precedent saying that emission spectrum of Cu(I) is responsible for the color? or if you can tell me where to look, I would go and find.
