Electrolysis/electrochemistry problem I can't figure out
« on: April 20, 2008, 12:14:11 AM »
Any ideas about how to approach this would be helpful considering the state I'm in...

Calculate final weight of cathode if you started by putting 250mg Cu metal on the surface of a 5.5g Cu cathode (all deposited Cu metal gets oxidized to CuO)

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Seems to me like trivial stoichiometry. You cathode final mass is that of 5.5g copper, plus copper oxide made of 250 mg of copper. Or am I missing something?
