« on: May 05, 2008, 04:37:34 PM »
Hi Guys. First post and its a really important few questions for my chemistry exam this week. Theres a high possibility that il be asked to draw the mechanism for each in the exam. Please can someone shed some light onto each one. Showing me them would be much appreciated! Here goes:

Question 1

1.   With the aid of appropriate diagrams, provide mechanistic accounts showing how:

a)   chlorambucil cross-links two guanosine residues in DNA.
(30% of the available marks)

b)    iomustine cross-links guanosine and cytosine residues in DNA.
(40% of the available marks)

c)   anthramycin alkylates a guanosine residue
(30% of the available marks)

King Regards
