Molarity question.. please help :)
« on: May 17, 2008, 03:12:26 AM »
hi guys.. heres a question i have absolutely no idea how to figure out.. i used C1V1=C2V2 but thats clearly wrong:

A conical flask containing 27mL of phosphoric acid solution requires 18mL of 0.250M calcium hydroxide to completely neutralize the phosphoric acid. What is the molarity of the phosphoric acid solution?

please explain to me how it is done. thank you!

Write the balanced reaction equation and all will become clear.

C1V1=C2V2 is not necessarily wrong, but what C are you using?

As DrCMS has suggested, write a balanced equation and see what that gives.
