Is Aspirin an Amine?

(1/1)

Jill:
I don't believe aspirin is an Amine...

am I right...

because aspirin is a memeber of salicylates, esters of salicyclic acid.  Chemmically aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid, and ester formed between acetic acid and the -OH group of salicylic acid.

Mitch:
aspirin does not containe an amine

Mitch:
The structure of the salt form of asprin can be found in this thriead http://www.chemicalforums.com/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=242;start=msg1133#msg1133
