Impossible Chemistry Question ???
« on: June 15, 2008, 03:13:28 PM »
Please take a look at the following screenshots of an online chemistry quiz.

As you can see I've tried a,b,c,d and e and none of them seem to be the right answer. Apparently I'm the only one who got a C and everyone else in my class got a perfect score. Can someone here please tell me the correct answer or how to find the correct answer. The question is in the screenshots.

Does it have to be a single answer?

The questions are not all the same.  Sometimes it is asking for peroxydisulfate and other times it is asking for iodine.  So you actually have not tried all of the answers...

If you post the original information from the question (obviously, this is one part of a multipart question, no?) someone may be able to help you determine the answer.

The online quiz will only let me select one answer.

My bad. I thought that each time I retook the quiz. The same questions were asked. Also this is not one part of a mulipart question. The quiz has four separate questions, all of them multiple choice, none of them are connected in anyway. The only information I was provided with is the information in the screenshot. Thanks

But it says "to determine the order of peroxydisulfate", determine the order in what?  There must be a reaction that they gave with peroxydisulfate and iodine.  The question about it seems related as well.  That is what I meant, it seems that there is a reaction between peroxydisulfate and iodine that was given...

It is Pre-Lab quiz for your kinetics lab.  I assume you have the laboratory manual.  Usually, all the information that you need to answer the pre-lab questions is included in the introduction to the lab.

Otherwise here is the reaction

S2O82- + 2I-  ---->   I2 + SO42-

This may or may not apply, but if it does, read the lab, it helps.
