Haber Process
« on: July 01, 2008, 04:57:53 PM »
Anyone here have experience with it or could help me build a small makeshift design of one? Or explain to me the physical fundementals it would require to make this happen, such as how to compress it, best application of the iron catatyst, and the best way to heat it to 200 C? Need alot of specifics like materials to use etc. Thanks much in advance.

Or am I getting in to more than I realize? lol

Also im not refering to the massive ones that the industrial companies use, just a small one that remakes the process.

Hello Qaiphyx,

I would strongly suggest that you do not make a makeshift design due to health hazards, elevated temperatures, etc..

Here is a link which describes most of what you are asking:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haber_process

The above link explains the fundamentals on making it happen.

I hope this brings you closer to your goal of this process.

Best wishes!

Eugene

Thanks. I already know how the process works. I guess the hardest part is the compression. Does anyone here have experience with higher compressions of this sort?
