Can copper react with acids?
« on: July 04, 2008, 09:35:04 AM »
Hello,

I know that Copper does not react with acids.  But from the internet it said that it does react with nitric acids to give nitrogen dioxide and oxygen gas.  Is it true?

Thanks,
fen

Whether oxygen is evolved ? As individually, the reducing product of nitric acid can only be nitric oxide NO2 with the high concentration of HNO3 and nitrogen oxide NO with dilute solution
