potassium chloride in a block instead of powder
« on: July 09, 2008, 10:37:40 AM »
I ordered 25Kg of potassium chloride powder for an experiment, but instead of receiving powder i received a large 25Kg block of potassium chloride, i think because of humidity. By physical means i can get it to powder again (physical means =hammer :D ), but i ws looking for a smarter way of doing it.

I thought of "baking" it in the oven at a low temperature to take out the moisture? will it work?
Does anyone have a better suggestion?

thanks in advance

Just heating won't be enough. Hammer (or some kind of mill or mortar) sounds the best. Do not oversmart ;)

Go to the dollar/thrift store and buy a very cheap coffee grinder.
