Reaction of Zinc Acetate with Sodium Bicarbonate
« on: July 18, 2008, 06:11:24 AM »
Hi,

Can anyone help me with the reaction products of the above reaction? I know it kicks out a load of CO2, but I can't seem to balance the equation with the products I think you should get.

Thanks,

Alan.

Well, what do you think the reaction products should be? Write us an equation out.

I thought...
Zn(CH3CO2)2 + NaCO3H > ZnCO3 + NaCH3CO2 + CO2

But having looked at zinc carbonate, I see it is often available only as Zinc Carbonate basic, (ZnCO3)2.[Zn(OH)2]3, don't know where to begin with this.
