Ester Oil = Ester?
« on: July 20, 2008, 06:39:47 AM »
Hi,

Just wondering if Ester oil = ester??

Is ester supposed to be neutral or acidic?

Sorry for the noob questions.. am very new to chemistry!  :-[

Will Ester oil reacts with Toulene, making it more acidic??

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand your question.  Esters are a general class of compounds.  Can you explain your question a little bit more?

I am doing a research on fuel additives and came across a type of fuel additive that is acidic..
It mixes Ester Oil and Toluene together..

Which makes me wonder what is Ester Oil and is Ester Oil = Ester?

What are the things that cause a fuel additive to be acidic? As i thought usually they should be neutral as being too acidic may cause engine parts corrosion..

I see.  I have never heard of ester oil, and I tried googling "ester oil fuel additive", and I couldn't come up with much info.  The only way I can further help is if your provide some links to your information, and I can look at them and see if I can figure out what they are discussing.
