I was doing this problem:

Which one has the lowest freezing point:

A).15M NaCl
B).10M CaCl2
c).10M NaCl
D).15M CaCl2

Correct Answer: D

I wanted to make sure I was doing this problem the right way. I looked at the formula delta T = imkf where "kf" is freezing point constant. So delta T and "i" are directly proportional, so which ever salt has the highest "i" will have the greatest change in temperature therefore the lowest freezing point.

But this explanation is not OK - it is im, not just i.
