Redox reaction
« on: August 31, 2008, 06:09:48 AM »
Hey guys, was just reviewing some galvanic cell questions and came across a question that doesnt make sense. Its asking:

Predict if a reaction will occur between Ag+(aq) and AG(s).
After studying equilibrium my instinct is to answer that yes, a reaction will commence as although there will be neither an accumulation of product or reactant, the reaction will still commence with the forward reaction being equal to the back reaction.

However my text book states that no reaction will occur. Can someone please explain???

the reaction will still commence with the forward reaction being equal to the back reaction.

What is the net effect then?
