Question relating to AVGAS thermal expansion
« on: September 05, 2008, 05:13:22 AM »
I would like to know how to caculate the thermal expansion (if any), of AVGAS.

Ideally I woul lik the be able to answer this type of question:

"If I have a tank of AVGAS holding 1000L and it is filled chocka-block, if the temperature was to increase by 20 deg celc., how much AVGAS would spill over?"

I have tried search engines but lack the 'chemistry-vocabulary' to even be able to find what I am looking for.

Any formulas or keyords or hints??

Thanks

What you need is a thermal expansion coefficient. These things are tabelarized in engineering handbooks.
