I am working on an invention and no very little about chemistry .

Is chemical desalination possible ? If so How?

I not talking about decanting , Osmosis , Steaming I need a chemical that when placed into salt water can separate the salt from the fresh water . Is salt in salt water granular ? Does it have an electrical charge?
