Starting a Science Fair
« on: September 16, 2008, 11:16:13 PM »
The science club at my school wants to start a science fair. Obviously it comes with much preparation. How does one go about actually starting something like this?

It is at a community college level, we have 9 other "sister" schools that fall under the same district, so collaboration is very possible.
I'm experiencing both Alzheimer's and Deja Vu right now, I think I forgot this before.

You could start with something like a mini Scifest with your sister colleges. Obviously lots of communication and contacts need to be initiated.

"SciFest is a local one-day science fair held in third level colleges and open to all second level students. A SciFest fair includes a competition and exhibition of projects, a selection of science talks, science demonstrations in the college laboratories and a prize-giving ceremony. SciFest aims to encourage a love of science through an investigative approach to learning and to provide an opportunity for students to display their scientific discoveries. "

Or start smaller and jump in with National Chemistry Week (coming up soon Oct 19-25th)
