Hey guys, I'm looking to do a little experiment.

But I have no idea what I'm doing....

Here's what I'm trying to figure out, I need to create a solution, that when remnants of cigarette smoke are dipped into it will change color...

But I don't no where to start?

 Benzene - 
 Formaldehyde - 
 Ammonia - 
 Hydrogen cyanide - 
 Cadmium -
 Acetone -
 Arsenic -

Are all major components of a cigarette. But they are likely to be in very low levels when exhaled. I guess my question is, are there any known substances that react when they come into contact with these chemicals? And how do I go about finding out if it's possible to make the reaction show up as a color change in a fluid?

All really silly questions I know, but another guy turned me onto this forum and said you guys where pretty smart.

When remnants of cigarette smoke?  How are you planning on doing that?

You are not going to find something that universally reacts with all of those things to provide a color change.
