Acid-base question: finding unknown volume given pH
« on: November 09, 2008, 11:26:27 PM »
Calculate the volume of 0.10 M NaOH to be added to 100 mL of 0.10 M HAc to give a solution with a pH of 5.00.

I know the [H3O+] has to equal 1.0E-5, but I'm not sure how that relates to the volume. I'm guessing I have to use M1V1 = M2V2 somewhere?

No, this is buffer question, you should use Henderson-Hasselbalch equation.
