Visit a forum, main forum shows read

I was wondering, is it known that if you visit a subforum with unread topics, and then go to the main forum listing, the subforum icon shows no unread messages.  But if you visit the subforum, the topics are still marked as unread.

I get all my unreads from the master unread list... I don't usually go into the specific forums unless I need something that hasn't been recently posted to.

So that is only new posts since my last visit?  It will ignore posts that I saw but didn't read?  Nice, I didn't realize it worked like that.

It will show all topics with new posts.

if you click through and look at a topic - even if you don't comment yourself - it will be removed from the new posts list.  If you don't click through, it will remain in your master unread list.  You can click 'mark all read' from the master list to remove all topics from that list.

That is useful.
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
3. Forum Supports LaTex
