Target shooting ?
« on: December 01, 2008, 03:38:29 AM »
I enjoy target shooting with a 22 caliberl rifle. In the past I used 1 liter bottles filled with water for special effects. I would like to add a little more excitement to my target shooting. I  would be interested in having the 1 liter bottle or other target burst with a bang, a cloud of color or anything more interesting then water slowly draining out of a small 22 caliber bullet hole.

What you do is this,Go to the local grocery store.
Get your self some of the cheap store versions of kool-aid.
But some dry ice (not all grocery stores have this, but many doo)
Put your water in the 1 liter bottle, add a little of the store version of the kool-aid to color it.
Add a small piece of dry ice. You will have to play with this; you want enough dry ice to increase the pressure but not bust it by its self.

This way, you have a colorful liquid in a container with high pressure and ready to go boom, and when you shoot it with the 22 caliber rifle, it will "explode" due to the high pressure inside releasing a show of color!

All very cheap and easy, and relatively safe.

how far do you shoot these targets?

I shoot .22 regularly, but i go for the thrill of hitting a floating bleachbottle from 500+ yards. you may say its impossible but if you aim high enough above it you can hit it.(plus its easier over water because you can see where your bullet hit)

I use a unmodified, all original parts Marlin Model60 and i love it
