Chemical Forums Dedicated Server Woes
« on: January 13, 2009, 01:10:09 PM »
So yeah, the media temple dedicated server didn't work out. Again, I somehow broke that setup and filled their disk space spontaneously Saturday night. Fortunately there is a dedicated server provider that specializes in setting up these types of forums, so we're now at montecarlohosting.net .

The good: Are tribulations should now be over

The Bad: We lost a weeks worth of posts (Jan 5th - Jan 11th) Monday-Saturday, because I make backups on Sunday nights.

The Ugly: Now this one really pisses me off. I bought the domain name Chemical Forums from fortunecityhosting, but fortunecity has sold managing rights of the domain to Hostopia. So there will be a couple days until the url structure looks like http://www.chemicalforums.com and not http://174.36.48.67/~chemical/

Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
3. Forum Supports LaTex

That should go away by tomorrow as the domain (chemicalforums.com) wraps around the above ip. Let me know if it continues this week.

Not sure if this will go away once the domain fixes itself, but I have to log in every time, even though I told the forums to remember me.

That will go away once the domain name resolves to the ip address. If you click anywhere about the forum like Astrokel said, you'll find out  you are actually logged in.

Dear Mitch;

As it seems that www.chemicalforums.com  is now more or less (sometimes with a very bad access) back to normal, please can you now also fix the display character set the way that all the old postings remain AGAIN in a readable kind/form and not sooooo scrambled as at the moment?

I think all the members and guests will thank you for!

Thank you!
Kind Regards!
