Detecting new species
« on: March 10, 2009, 01:16:47 PM »
I mix a metal and ligand to form a complex. How do I verify if a new species is really formed? The instrument I need to use is a spectrophotometer. Thanks!

Upon bonding, you'd surely see the absorbance peaks of your ligand shifting or even spliting in some case.
