Inert coating for destillation setup
« on: February 17, 2009, 09:53:24 AM »
Well...In my country are normal glass destilation setups quite costly like 150 euro, so I would like to improvise one myself...i would probably make it out of copper piping or some metal like that, but...I wouldn't like some impurities in my destillate (if i was destilling something that would react with the metal..)..so i would like to know if somebody know of some cheap very inert thing with which i could coat the inside of the tubing?

Thanks for the answers

If you can braze, copper ought to be just fine for most organics (drinking alcohol and water are distilled in copper).

You can't distill nitric acid in copper though :P.
Neither flask nor beaker.

I know, I meant that it would be acid/base resistant... that i could destill some acids or something like that...
