Help plz, on density at different temperature and pressure

Hi,

I would like to seek for help in determining the density of methane, ethane, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide at 2 bar and 15oC. Is the density for these substance are the same at all temperature and pressure or not?

May I know the way in getting the density at 2bar and 15oC? Thank you!

Assume 1 mole of the gas. Calculate its mass and volume (you will need molar masses and ideal gas equation). Use definition of density. Done :)

John, looking at all of the questions you have asked on this forum (including how to convert pence/m3 to British Pounds/year), I would strongly suggest that you reconsider whether or not you really want to be a chemist or chemical engineer.

People say I'm harsh. Gee whiz  ;D

But yeah, at such low pressure and moderate temperature, ideal gas law would probably be fine.

For great accuracy, you'll need to consult thermodynamic tables or use a better equation of state. Consult "Properties of Gases and Liquids" by Prausnitz for such things.

Clustro, I thought I was being realistic rather than harsh.

Please note that the equations (that I referred to) include the gas compressibility factor, Z, which would make them applicable at most real conditions as well as ideal conditions. Of course, sophisticated equations of state would be even better.
