I thought for binary acids: increased electronegativity meant increased acid strengths, so why wouldn't H
2
S be the stronger acid?

Increased conjugate base stability = stronger acid. Larger atoms are more polarizable - the negative charge has less of an effect on the overall stability of the molecule.
