oxidizing mitragynine?
« on: March 29, 2009, 09:57:51 AM »
There's a plant called Mitragyna speciosa.  Two of the constituents found in this plant are mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine.  I'm reading a research paper that states that 7-hydroxymitragynine is an oxidized derivative of mitragynine.  So what I'm wondering is how one would go about oxidizing mitragynine to result in 7-hydroxymitragynine?

For what purposes?  What kind of equipment (as well as what level of organic chemistry lab knowledge) do you have?

Unless, you're actually asking how the plant metabolically oxidizes mitragynine to 7-hydroxymitragynine.  Because that answer is very likely different from a straight organic chemistry answer.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
