(a) Given that the Ka for acetic acid is 1.8 x 10-5 and that for hypochlorous acid is 3.0 x 10-8, which is the stronger acid;

Ok, I can do this one....Acetic acid is stronger

Can I have some help with the next two parts?

(b) Which is the stronger base, the acetate ion or the hypochlorite ion?

(c) Calculate the Kb values for C2H3O2- and ClO-.

Ask Brønsted and Lowry, those guys really know what the question is about ;)

I have read your link, and i see that a Base is the substance that can accept a proton. So one of these, either the acetate ion or the hypochlorite ion can accept more protons. So would it be C2H3O2- because it has two O molecules which can accept a H+?

Do you have a hint for how to calculate the Kb values?

I found the equation Kb = Kw / Ka, so I got it!!!
Thanks for your help
