Tollen's Test, drinking from a mirrored glass?
« on: April 15, 2009, 11:51:48 PM »
Any particular reason it would be unwise to drink from a glass that got the inside of it silvered if it was thoroughly cleaned?  How well does the mirror coat hold to the glass after a Tollen's test?

Thanks

Can be scrubbed off with a brush relatively easily in my experience.  However better adhering films result from purer reactants.  One may be able to find a procedure that produces a better adhering film.

I'm pretty sure you'll be fine if you don't drink from it every day.

If the glass is properly prepared and then properly silvered, it should stick quite well.
Neither flask nor beaker.
