Group Theory Representations
« on: April 19, 2009, 09:04:11 AM »
Hi
I have a quick question
Its on representations.
It may be a bit difficult to understand so see the attachment for an example.
My question is based on how to get a representation (gamma) for a molecule. I thought that this was calculated by counting the number of operations but then we had negative values and then i thought you had to use the p orbitals as a basis but then sometimes this leads to wierd results.
My question is how do you get the representation from the molecule?
Thanks in advance
