HPLC/MS/MS
« on: April 23, 2009, 01:30:41 PM »
Hi,
Can someone please explain how HPLC/MS/MS works , any useful articles/websites are appreciated.
Also I am not sure about the difference between API 300 , API 4000. I know the higher API the more sensitive it is but i don't know what causes this sensitivity.

Thank you very much

All this stuff required was a simple Google  ::)

The main difference between the 3000 and 4000 models is in the design of  nebuliser head used to produce the ions which are fed into the quadrupole system. The 3000 system can only cope with flow rates of 0.3 mL/minute or less. In addition, if a change in ionisation mode is needed the front end of the system must be changed out.  The 4000 model's front end is a different design and can cope with flows up to 1 mL/minute, the change in ionisation mode can be effected by simply changing a probe tip.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
