bonding problem

hi,
i have a school assignment in which i have to discuss some materials which do not have clear simple bond types, that is to say materials which are sort off suppose to be ionic but are covalent... that sort of thing...
i would really appreciate if someone gives me some names of materials regarding this...
any sort of help is appreciated as i am still a newbie to chemistry.. :(

Try googling AlF3 vs. AlCl3(g) and BeCl2. Also try read up on polar covalent.

I was away and could not reply immediately. Anyway, the general thing is that bonding between metal and non-metal tends to be ionic but it is not the case for the compounds stated.
