I am new to this forum and I would like to know
1) is there any method available to analyze ethanol content in sweet sorghum juice using GC-MS or HPLC?

Please do inform me if you have any idea.

This is a pretty trivial application, you should be able to find many methods for ethanol by GC, in a variety of sources, probably even the manufacturer's website, or even the user's guide -- it's a good way to check out a new system.  Maybe you want a more personal touch, or maybe you can't access technical journals, but then , who gave you a GC to use, with no support whatsoever?

HPLC might work if you were really desperate, but it's probably not a favorite method.

Most of the technical journal published is with GC with FID for sweet sorghum stalk juice ethanol production. Even I tried google search but none of the procedure deals with the use of gcms with capillary column for ethanol analysis.

Can any one give me tips.

Will the use of standard ethanol spoil Mass spec parts due to solvent characters?
