Isophthalate peak in GCMS
« on: May 09, 2009, 09:18:01 AM »
Hi,
I am getting one prominent peak for all of the samples, that account for diiso pthalate from NIST liberary match. Is it could be from piece of rubber septa from injection port?

How do I can get rid of the peak or remove from column? Please explain

Ran across this one the hard way.

Check the gloves being used for sample prep.  There are some opaque white gloves that are mixtures of polymers.  One polymer used includes phthalates as a plasticizer.  Any contact between the glove and the test solution can lead to contamination.

If you are using the purple gloves, you should be ok.
