Which one is the catalyst?
« on: May 12, 2009, 12:32:26 AM »
2Mn04- + 5H2C2O4 + 6H+  :rarrow: 2Mn+2 + 10CO2 + 8H20

Reactants: 2Mn04- + 5H2C2O4 + 6H+

Products: 2Mn+2 + 10CO2 + 8H20

Which molecule is the catalyst in the products? Mn+2 or CO2, and why?

Mn2+, but reasons are buried in the reaction mechanism.
