Dissolving 1M anhyrdous citric acid
« on: May 14, 2009, 04:40:45 PM »
Hello all,

I am trying to prepare a 1M solution of citric acid (from anhyrdous powder) in a 100mL volumetric flask.

It's taking quite a white to dissolve.  Is this normal?  A lab member suggested I put it in a sonicator.  It's been 10 min, and I can still see very small flakes.

Before preparation, I cleaned the flask with HNO3/water, and then rinsed well with water.

Sorry--the title is a bit misleading.  I'm starting with powder...not a 1M solution.  Trying to prepare a 1M solution.
